TRADE THEORY-I (Fitter) (100 Marks)

General workshop guidelines and safety.

Introduction to manufacturing processes their classification and application.

Bench work & Fitting: Bench Vice, Fitting tools, drilling machine and various fitting operations like filing, chipping, scraping, sawing, marking and marking tools, drilling & tapping.

Measurement and measuring tools. Precision Instruments, Gauges, cutting tools and operations,

Measuring Instruments: Inside & Outside Callipers, Vernier Callipers, Micrometers and their least count calculation, reading methods and uses. Slip Gauges and their uses


Introduction to IS Standard, A – system of paper, folding of drawings, dividing of sheets, sheet layout, title blocks

Drawing tools, lettering, types of lines &their application, dimensioning, scales Isometric & orthographic projections Symbols and representation for surface finish, geometrical tolerances, welding etc.

Projection: Isometric to orthographic conversion & vice-versa, problems on finding missing views.

Sections: Cutting planes, hatching, various methods of sectioning


Percentage: Introduction, Representation of decimal number into percentage, conversion of percentage into rational form, Applications
Ratio and Proportion: Introduction, Simple ratio, Applications
Units conversions.
L.C.M & H.C.F, Vulgar Fractions, decimal Fractions, Square Roots & Cube roots, Simplification, Averages, Time & Work
Time & Distances, Indices & Logarithms, algebra.
Mechanical properties & Tests: strength, ductility, hardness, toughness, malleability, elasticity, plasticity
Introduction to Carbon steel, stainless steel, tool steels, Cast irons

Introduction to non-Ferrous Materials: Aluminium alloys, Copper alloys: Brasses, bronzes, gun metal, babbit metal, their properties and uses


Words, Sentences, form of sentences, Kind of sentences, Singular & plural, forms of verbs, parts of speech : Noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, prepositions, conjunction, interjection along with examples.
Tenses: present/ past/ future. Structure of tense along with example.

Vocabulary building. Reference skills – dictionary, thesaurus, building word-power, spelling, meaning and usage of words, antonyms, synonyms, prefixes & suffixes, words with silent letters, words commonly mis-spelt, words commonly confused with.

Workshop Practice – I (400 Marks)

Bench work. Fitting, components of simple hand tools. Practical use of various Tools used in bench work & Fitting. Practical use of various Marking & Measuring Tools required in bench work & fitting.

Milling practice: Components for practice of various milling methods. Inspection of various types of parts, Heat Treatment of parts.

Surface grinding, cylindrical grinding and tool & cutter grinding

TRADE THEORY-I (Welding) (100 Marks)

  1. Principles of welding Technology.
  2. Types of welding eg. TIG,MIG,CO2 etc
  3. Types of flames.
  4. Principles of welding transformer along with voltage and current settings asper electrode requirement.
  5. Working principle of gas cutting and welding
  6. Safety precautions during cutting & welding.
  7. Co2 welding m/c working principle
  8. Difference between soldering and brazing.
  9. Practical exposure of welding and gas cutting.
  10. Electrodes selection as per composition of parent materials etc.
